Westgate Ward

James Flanagan

james.flanagan@cantlibdem.org.uk

James has represented Westgate Ward since 2007. He grew up in Canterbury, where he attended Beauherne and Simon Langton Schools. He is married with three young children.

James has continued to press the County Council to repair and resurface local roads over the last 4 years. In 2010 he organised a petition of over 4000 signatures to help save the Roman and Westgate museums from closure. Last August, James supported local charity the Pilgrims Hospice by raising £2,500 in a tandem skydive over Kent.

Update 6th May: James has been re-elected!

Ida Linfield

ida.linfield@cantlibdem.org.uk

Ida lived in Canterbury for many years, was educated at The Simon Langton Girls School, has worked as a City Guide and for the past ten years has worked in Canterbury for Help the Aged. "I want to ensure that the voices of local residents are heard again in Canterbury, as they were when the LIBERAL DEMOCRATS controlled the council. Now the Tories only pay lip service to consultation and prefer secrecy to open government. I believe that local government should be for local people - not just for vested interest groups. At the moment, whatever the issue is - car parks, safe pavements and roads, traffic problems and residents' parking, park wardens, housing developments, in fact anything and everything you can think of - local people are simply ignored. This is unacceptable. I will work so that your voice is heard and that you are kept informed of planned changes to your neighbourhood."

Update 6th May: Ida has been re-elected!

Graham Wood

graham.wood@cantlibdem.org.uk

Graham Wood has been a Liberal/Lib Dem supporter since 1959. Born and brought up in London, his family lived in Canterbury for generations so he has known the city since the early 1950s and has lived here since 1989. He is a retired schoolteacher and is chairman of its Local History Group. He is treasurer (and former chairman) of the Canterbury branch of the Historical Association and is a devotee of Kent County Cricket.

Update 6th May: Graham has been elected!
