Mike Sole has expressed his concerns that Conservative Kent County Council has voted to drastically reduce their sports development budget. During a recent visit

to Canterbury Sitting Volleyball club with Liberal Democrat MP Lynne Featherstone, he said "I am very disappointed that KCC has slashed £200,000 from its sport budget. So much for building on the Olympics and Paralympics. This club has given sporting opportunities to disabled youngsters that might not be available elsewhere. If funding to disability sport is cut by KCC those opportunities will not be there. I am very grateful that Lynne Featherstone has found time to join us today to see the good work that the club is doing"

Lynne Featherstone MP (Liberal Democrat Minister in the Department of International Development) said "It is so important that funding is made available to help clubs like this. When budgets are being cut it is so important to protect disability sports funding as clubs like this offer fantastic opportunities for people to get involved and build on the Paralympic legacy"

Players from the club added "The club is a great opportunity for able bodied and disabled to play in an active team sport together. It was great to have Lynne Featherstone MP joining Mike to see us training and to recognise what a valuable community facility this is."
