Michael Dixey calls on the council to clean up the A2

May 19, 2018 1:08 PM

Litter in MaidstoneThe amount of litter along the verges of the A2 is appalling, a dreadful advertisement for those entering the country.

The frequency of litter picking on the A2 within the District's boundary needs to be increased from once a year to twice a year.

It costs £5,285 to pick litter from the A2, or £19,735 with traffic management. We urge the council to find the money in its budget to double the number of cleans so that they take place every spring and autumn.

The city council should also work with the relevant agencies to install signs to deter motorists from discarding waste from their windows, and for cameras to be installed to catch and prosecute offenders.
