Parking charges

car parking meterResidents with parking permits in the city are reeling from the proposed increaes in charges - far in excess of inflation. The average of the increases proposed by the ruling Tory group is 77% over the next three years - with further increases to come in the following years.

These massive increases penalise working people who need a car for their work, such as health and care workers.

We believe that there can be no jusitfication for these increases, however strained the council's finances are. Most people would accept increases in line with inflation, even a percentage point or two above. But these increases will probably be ten times the rate of inflation.
